LAURIN WATTS MPH, RD, LDN

Laurin is a holistic and non-diet dietitian who strives to support others throughout their health journey to discovering a healthy relationship with food, movement, and their body. During her own past experiences with finding what healthy means for her, she encountered an overwhelming amount of deceptive nutrition and wellness information regarding what health is supposed to be or look like. Laurin understands that health is and looks different for everyone. She integrates the principles of Intuitive Eating with her knowledge, skills, and creativity to help others establish habits and activities that they enjoy and make them feel good.

Laurin earned her bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science at Bridgewater College in VA while riding on the equestrian team for 4 years. She obtained her master’s degree in Public Health with Registered Dietitian training at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Laurin is a member of he North Carolina Chapter of International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, and is a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

Throughout her time at UNC, Laurin interned with the olympic sports dietitian, where she was introduced to the interconnection of Intuitive Eating and sports nutrition for athletic performance. Given her background in competing in sports herself, she was intrigued how the approach was helping so many prestigious athletes reach their performance goals while establishing or maintaining a healthy relationship with food. Laurin carries this philosophy with her in her work to assist all people in eating and moving in ways that make them feel good. She helps clients learn and understand that weight loss and dieting are not necessary to improve performance, health, or overall well-being.

When she isn’t working, you can most likely find Laurin doing anything outside. Some of her favorite outdoor activities are walking her dog, Faye, riding horses, hiking, running, and going to the beach. She also enjoys painting, working out, watching shows, drinking and making coffee, and buying (too many) house plants. A lover of nature and exploring what the world  has to offer, she often finds herself searching for new, creative ways to improve her life and the life of those around her. Whether it is tasting unique foods or trying new activities, she loves to encourage others (and herself) to get out of their comfort zone and live life to the fullest.
