Riders are more at risk than other sports to experience disordered eating because of the nature of the sport. We are judged on our appearance, so how can we not pay more attention to our bodies? Unfortunately, this can lead to a lot of dieting, striving to meet an "ideal" body type, and negative talk about food and body. This type of environment can have an immense impact on how we feel about ourselves, ultimately causing declines in our confidence, riding performance, health, and overall lower enjoyment from the sport.
By taking the vow to be a diet free teammate, you are becoming the change we need to see in the sport. You are an integral part in this shift away from normalized disordered eating habits and toxic language around food and body in our sport. We do this sport for our love of horses, not to be ridiculed by others about our what our bodies look like!
Be apart of the movement!
